An RV Park, or Recreational Vehicle Park, is a campground that has specialized features to accommodate overnight stays by campers in Recreational Vehicles. RV Park usually refers to a facility that caters specifically to RV campers, but many campgrounds offer areas that are designated for RV campers. RV Parks may be publicly or privately owned.
RV Parks feature individual pitches or sites that are assigned for RVs, often on concrete pads. Each pitch typically includes an electricity connection and water hookup. Electricity service is usually 30 amp, but in some parks, 50 amp or 30/50 amp service may be available. Water hookups allow RVs to connect directly to a municipal or other potable water supply. Depending on the RV Park, underground waste disposal, television connections, telephone connections, and WiFi service may be offered.
RV Resorts are parks that provide the most extensive array of amenities. RV Resorts can function as self-contained vacation communities. In addition to RV pitches and common RV facilities, these parks include clubhouses, restaurants, bars, and a variety of retail offerings on site, as well as spas and 18-hole golf courses. Organized social activities for campers are common. Some RV Resorts are for adults or seniors only.
Campgrounds that include RV parking spaces tend to offer fewer amenities than RV Parks. Water fill stations and dumpsites may be available, but direct hookups at individual sites are uncommon. RV camping at locations with no utility hookups may be referred to as Boondocking or Dry Camping.
Seasonal or Long-Term RV Parks offer terms of service designed for RV campers who plan on a lengthier stay. Long-term stays are usually for a month or more, with some facilities offering winter storage or allowing year-round stays. Full utility hookups are typically available with billing on a monthly basis.
