About GSA Offices

What is a Small Business Set-Aside?

Small business set-asides are a tool for making small businesses competitive in seeking federal contracts. Federal contracts with small business set-asides are those that designate all or part of a contract award exclusively for small businesses.

How does a vendor get a GSA Schedule contract?

The GSA issues solicitations for products and services to be purchased by the federal government. Interested vendors submit a proposal based on the specifications in the GSA's solicitation. The GSA conducts due diligence on proposals received in order to identify Responsible Vendors. The GSA then evaluates the proposals, negotiates pricing and terms, and awards contracts to the vendors that offer acceptable pricing and terms.

How do vendors find out about GSA solicitations?

The GSA provides a Forecast of Contracting Opportunities with information on planned federal contracting opportunities. The Forecast alerts vendors to contracting opportunities early in the process.
