About Campgrounds

Are reservations required for Campgrounds?

For RV Parks, reservations are usually required. Other Campgrounds may accept reservations without requiring them. Many Campgrounds designate a portion of their campsites as first come first serve.

Do all Campgrounds charge fees?

There are some free Campgrounds within national or state parks and forests. Other public Campgrounds charge fees for part of the year, but allow free camping during seasons when visitation numbers are lower.

Are pets allowed at Campgrounds?

Each Campground has its own rules regarding pets. Even in cases where pets are permitted, they are usually required to be leashed or under the owner's control at all times. Keeping pets on a leash minimizes unwanted interactions with wildlife, transmission of diseases, and disruption to other campers.
