Yuma County District Attorney 190 West 14th Street Yuma AZ 85364 928-373-5060
District attorneys (DAs) are also known as county, prosecuting, state or commonwealth attorneys. They investigate and prosecute criminal conduct in their jurisdictions. The services provided by a district attorney vary by state but commonly include reviewing police reports, examining suspicious activities that may be criminal, directing criminal investigations and making appropriate charges. District attorneys determine the type of crime a defendant is charged with and participate in grand jury proceedings.
By cooperating with law enforcement agencies, state and county attorneys prosecute both minor misdemeanors and major felonies. DAs are responsible for directing the actions of law enforcement officers in cases of domestic violence, traffic violations, juvenile proceedings, child advocacy and child support crimes, victim assistance, homicides, drug offenses and organized crime activities.
